Monaco Marine – Golfe de St Tropez completes modernisation

Monaco Marine has announced the completion of the total optimisation of its Golfe de St Tropez shipyard in the French Riviera. Works on the Monaco Marine St Tropez yard begun in December 2019 and, despite the challenges posed over the last 12+ months, were able to be carried out on schedule for a successful launch earlier this year.

“We began refitting the yard with its flooring and electricity, air and water networks in December 2019, and we started in different phases,” says Pascal Gay-Varney, director of the shipyard. “Regardless of the closure of the site for five weeks during the first lockdown, we are proud to say that the goal of opening a new site in January 2021 has been met without any major pitfalls.”

Capable of hosting both motor and sailing yachts up to 35-metres in length, the Monaco Marine St Tropez site is located just five minutes from St Tropez and close to the ports of Ste Maxime, Port Grimaud and the Marines de Cogolin. Works on the yard included the addition of two new 150T and 60T cranes as well as a motorised trailer that can support loads of up to 100 tons, making it the only shipyard in the Gulf de St Tropez capable of lifting boats over 22-metres and up to 150 GT.

“The addition of the two new cranes means we are capable of lifting bigger boats while being able to lift the smaller ones with more delicacy,” continues Gay-Varney. “We can ensure more safety and more precision. Lifting a yacht is the core of our profession. It is a very delicate action that requires a high level of expertise, so we always have to stay up to date with more performant tools and facilities. The shipyard sector is extremely competitive and must constantly adapt to new environmental standards and strict safety rules. Monaco Marine must maintain and modernise its infrastructure permanently in order to remain among the leaders on the Mediterranean coast.
