ACREW conducted its first ever ACREW Insights in November in the exclusive shipyard Astilleros de Mallorca in Palma de Mallorca. The concept of Insights has been developed by ACREW to connect senior yacht crew with interesting topics and knowledgeable people who can relate to one-another. This event consisted of 25 captains from some of the finest superyachts in the world coming together for a morning of educational seminars.
The Captains Insights day created an arena for the senior leaders to explore something new together and to discuss their worlds and their challenges. It also sets the tone for the rest of the event as Captains encouraged their crew to attend the following two days and to get involved. Incredibly worthwhile three days and a fabulous location. Managed and coordinated by ACREW, Astilleros de Mallorca and all who contributed. Thank you.
Sara & Christian, Crew-Glue
The first seminar was hosted by Crew-Glue and explored the elements of personalities that require careful navigation in order to achieve success as a captain. Ahoy Club then advised the captains on how to plan for a successful charter season before the headline seminar by Diego Colón, CEO of Astilleros de Mallorca. He shared his extensive knowledge with the captains on the history of oceanic navigation dating back to the writings of the eminent explorer Marco Polo. The captains were then treated to a three-course lunch sponsored by JOTUN and high-end wines from No.12 Fine Wines & Provisions. Many attending captains noted how highly they had valued the confidential, captain-and officer-only space provided by ACREW. The private space invited an open dialogue appreciated by all.
I found the Captains Insights Day hosted by ACREW highly informative with some extremely interesting guest speakers covering a wide range of topics that kept all participants engaged and entertained. Looking forward to the next event.
Darren Hunt, Captain, M/Y Miss Kate

The event will be exclusively attended by family offices and the focus will be on how to maximise the benefits of having a superyacht as an asset. The headline talk by Avnish Dhall; a former captain, owners’ representative, fleet manager and current partner of Monjin will share his thoughts on improving efficiency onboard. Avnish Dhall is well respected in the industry for his outstanding crew retention of his average crew member providing service for ten years.
