Otam sells 25m motoryacht under construction

Otam 80HT

Genoa-based Otam Yachts has announced the sale of the fourth units of the Otam 80HT series. The yard started the construction of the 25.5m vessel without a commission last February and the sales contract was signed at the end of May, 2016

Even though the yacht is already under construction, the owner will be able to take advantage of all the customization options available for the project.

The Otam 80 maintains all the technical advantages of its predecessors. The hull, built entirely of resin and Aramat, has been designed to guarantee high speed even in rough seas in complete safety and comfort, the shipyard claims.

The deep-V hull translates into soft and fluid behaviour through the waves and a cruising speed even in rough seas of 40 knots.

Propulsion will be entrusted to two MTU M94 engines developing 2600 hp at 2450rpm and its respective Arneson Drive 15 A 1 L transmissions.

Founded in in 1954, Otam produces the Millennium range at its yard in Genoa. The line comprises seven models including the 45′, the 50′ Open, the 58′ Open or HT, the 65′ HT, the 80′ HT and the Millennium 100.

The shipyard is located in Sestri Ponente and its facilities occupy an area of around 17,000sq m of facilities with direct access to the sea.

Hulls are built using a blend of aramat and vinyl ester resin, designed to guarantee complete safety and comfort even at high speed in rough sea. With a dead-rise of over 21°, an Otam hull gives a soft and fluid ride through the waves, the company claims.

The builder says that on average, any Otam model consumes no more than 10 litres ( 2,6 gallons) per nautical mile at a cruising speed of 40 knots (at apx 1,600 rpm), up to 40% less than any competitor.
