Hug Engineering has announced that its SCR Selective Catalytic Emission Reduction System has reached the new IMO emissions certification. The equipment will be fitted on the main engines onboard the Amels 188 series.
A test under independent Lloyd’s Register class supervision has showed that the main engine of the new 57.7m superyacht will comply with IMO Tier III NOx emission limits.
In December 2015, the generator sets have already been IMO Tier III certified.
In this project the main and auxiliary engines have reached the IMO Tier III certification. Additionally, the generator sets are equipped with nauticleanTM active diesel particulate filter.
“This is another milestone for us with regards to getting the IMO Tier III certification of our nauticleanTM,” explains project manager Elizabeth Rahman of Dutch Hug Partner SootTech. “We appreciate the trust in our products and services by our partner Amels.”
Tier III, the next stage of the United Nations’ IMO NOx emissions regulations, applies to vessels operating in North American and the United States Caribbean Sea NOx Emission control Areas (ECAs).
