FLIBS Preview: Top 5 new yachts at the show

We take a look at a selection of some of the newest yachts that have made their way to the 56th edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) taking place this week. The event kicks off this Thursday and runs until Sunday.

ROCK.IT

​​​​

The 60 metre ROCK.IT was launched last year in August and has spent the past summer season cruising in the north eastern coast of America. She has now headed back south to Florida where she will be on display at FLIBS this year. The Dutch design company, Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design designed both the interior and exterior of ROCK.IT. She is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, and accommodates ten guests over four guest cabins as well as a generous owner’s stateroom.

King Baby

Delivered just last month to her American client, Chinese yacht builder IAG Yachts wasted no time in loading the 41 metre King Baby onto her transport vessel which would take her to Florida. She is attending the show as the yard’s largest yacht ever at just under 500 GT, and is constructed entirely from GRP. She has been built to RINA’s classification standards and is MCA LY2 compliant for a commercial charter rating.

Sanlorenzo SL 118

The fourth hull in the Italian yard’s SL118 line, the 37 metre yacht has become the flagship in the SL line and features a planning hull in fiberglass. Designed by Francesco Paszkowkski, the Sl118 builds on the success of the SD112, of which one model will also be on display at the show.

Acala

Cantieri delle Marche is attending the show once again after a three year absence and is bringing along their recently launched Darwin Class 102 explorer yacht Acala. Measuring 31.09 metres, she has been constructed in steel and aluminium and will be officially presented to the industry for the first tome at the show. She features naval architecture and exterior design by Hydro Tec, and accommodates guests over a five cabin layout. Amongst her specific customisations for her Central American client is a lazarette equipped with a nitrox compressor for diving, as well as the doors in the large salon that are able to open completely.

Ocean Alexander 100

The second hull of Ocean Alexander’s OA 100 series will be on display at the show this year after revealing the first edition of the design at FLIBS 2014. The yacht was designed by Evan K. Marshall with chartering use in mind. eature a large galley, greatly enlarged crew area, as well as the addition of strategic storage space throughout the vessel. On the lower deck, the OA 100 offers a full-beam master stateroom arrangement with his-and-her heads, a forward VIP cabin, and two twin cabins, which can be transformed into double cabins. Ocean Alexander have optimized the yacht’s exterior areas, creating a large partially covered sundeck. However, the vessel is also available with an enclosed skylounge arrangement.
