AVIVA Wins Boat International Design & Innovation Award

Best Lifestyle Feature Design

Game, Set and Match:

We are very pleased to announce that Abeking & Rasmussen’s Superyacht “AVIVA” is a winner at the 2018 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards. The judges dedicated the famous Neptune Statue for her very special lifestyle feature: The Padel Tennis Court. “Together with Toby Silverton and Reymond Langton Design we are very proud to win this important award. With her 98m AVIVA is not only the largest ship built by A&R but also one of the most exceptional. We would like to congratulate the owners, the designers and all our workforce who merged all their expertise into this outstanding yacht. “ said Till von Krause – Sales Director Yacht.

Padel Tennis Court

The yacht’s special feature is a full-size padel tennis court (20m x 10m x 6.65m) inside, stretching over two decks.

“It is not only a lifestyle change for the owner but also to crew as this is also the largest gym of any yacht. The crew is encouraged to play with the owner and guests and when the court is not in use for padel the net can be removed and the crew plays football and use other exercise equipment in the space, it is after all a sports hall. Having a padel tennis court on board a yacht, one would expect some sort of compromise to the layout (there isn’t) and to the quality and size of the court, however the owner is adamant that this is the best padel tennis court in the world, period!” confirms Reymond Langton Design.

Exterior

“We truly believe Aviva is unlike any other yacht. At 5,000 GRT a huge volume compared to other yachts of similar and longer LOA however we think she is cleverly designed to disguise this size. The blue hull mirrors the sea and the bright silver superstructure reflecting the sky help the lines of the yacht to look sleek and architectural.” comments Reymond Langton Design.

Interior

AVIVA provides 98 meters of exclusivity and the interior design features a number of avant-garde architectural elements. You will hardly find any uniform surface in this vessel; all walls and ceilings are meticulously build into detail in a harmony of curves and facets.

Technical

A very special feature is the hybrid drive system: it allows the yacht to run at up to 11 knots with an electric drive system without the use of the main engines. This is smooth, silent and environmentally beneficial. AVIVA hosts superior seakeeping abilities combined with a 20% decrease in drag. Less engine output is required, fuel consumption is dramatically reduced and the maximum speed is a full 20 knots.

Build Time

As a result of a vast planning program, A&R managed to launch this yacht within 33 months from signing of the contract which is very little time given the size of this project.
