Bachmann Group announces new marine electrical training courses.

After a busy year in 2016, which saw significant expansion of their facilities, the management team at Bachmann Group’s Training Division has announced more new courses for the coming year. These will be of interest to engineers and crew working on larger yachts with complex electrical system installations.

 

Bachmann Training’s Business Manager Keith Austin said, “we have listened to a lot of input from students during the last 12 months, and as a result are continuing to expand the courses on offer. This way our program is structured to meet clearly identified training demands in the maritime sector, and to keep up with the latest technological and legislative advances.”

 

Five new courses delivering knowledge across a range of electrical skills have been added to the training program for this year as follows:

* 1-Day Basic Electrical Course.

 

* 2-Day Introduction to Electrical Engineering.

 

* Field Service Engineers Electrical Course (For operatives in marine or industrial sectors.)

 

* Electrical Fault Finding for Chief Engineers.

This is a 40-hour course and will be delivered over a 5-day period. The course is designed to equip students with the necessary practical skills and knowledge to carry out electrical fault finding.

The course comprises of classroom-based theory and some practical hands-on learning. Delegates will receive a certificate of course completion.

The curriculum includes, electricity at work regulations including the relationship between contractors and ship’s crew. Use and application of test equipment. How to read Electrical Drawings correctly, and how to use these drawings to track faults and carry out fault diagnosis.

 

* Electrical Power Generation and Management (EPGAM)

This is a 4-day course built to give delegates sound practical experience of operating ships electrical switchboards, with background knowledge in SOLAS Electrical Regulations. This will be taught by a series of practical exercises on how to react in a safe manner to real time scenarios, set on integrated engine room & switchboard simulator.

 

The course content will include: SOLAS regulations appertaining to, Electrical Installations, Standard Generation, Emergency Generation, Normal and Emergency Electrical Supplies, Manual Synchronising of Generators,

Power Sharing between Generators, Blackouts at Sea, Emergency Generator Failure, Mechanical Breakdowns leading to Electrical Faults, Automatic Synchronising of Generators, Interrogation of Power Management Systems.
